5 Skincare Tips On How To Get The Most Out of Your Products
1 —
Exfoliate Regularly
Exfoliating regularly is the key to keeping your pores clean, your skin glowing, and your products properly penetrating. Use a gentle exfoliator as over-exfoliating with something like a retinol can make skin dry and look thin. How often you exfoliate will depend on your skin type. Those with oily skin can exfoliate as often as once per day while those with dry skin may only be able to exfoliate once per week.
2 —
Apply in the Correct Order
To make sure the ingredients of each skin-care product is absorbed by your skin instead of blocked by another product, it's important to apply your products in the correct order. Generally, your products should be applied from thinnest to thickest consistency. So after cleansing, depending on what types of products you are using, the order should be something like this: Toner, serum, face oil, moisturizer, sunscreen, makeup.
3 —
Store your products correctly
If exposed to sunlight, certain ingredients in skin care could break down, causing your products to be ineffective sooner than their expiration dates. Try and keep your products in a cabinet to avoid being exposed to sunlight!
4 —
Use small amounts & don’t overload your skin
Most skincare products only need a few drops to use. By not over applying you will make all your products last longer so they can continue to work their magic when you do use them. It’s also very easy to get attracted to all the different products out there, but some products should not be used together, like acids and retinols.
5 —
Don’t Judge too quickly
Give your products a full month before you judge them. It takes time for them to make a difference on your skin, so if you don’t see results immediately don’t give up and toss them aside. Your skin takes about 30 days to generate new cells, if you use a product consistently for that time and still don’t see results, then it might be time to move on. But if you stick to it, you might see the results you were hoping for.
